What is a "Partner of Record"?
A Microsoft 'Partner of
Record' is usually the supplier you bought your CRM software
from. It could be a Microsoft Partner, a local Microsoft Reseller or
a Microsoft Distributor (such as Ingram Micro or Misco).
Microsoft analysis shows that customers are far more likely to make best
use of CRM when they have a Partner assigned to look after them rather
than deal direct with Microsoft telesales teams.
Different Partners have different strategies when dealing with
customers. Many Partners want to encourage customers to outsource all
changes and developments to the Partner so they can ensure a
high quality service.
However some customers feel this comes at a high cost of consultancy and often delays
the implementation of relatively minor changes to their CRM
